Client FAQ
Yes! It is a Keratin Treatment for the hair that will reduce drying time but does even more than that! It’s a 3-in-1 formula (Triphasic) that will repair hair, reduce frizz, and thicken hair shaft.
After a treatment, hair will be thicker, smoother, healthier, shinier, and frizz-free for around 4 months. We recommend clients get a refreshed treatment every 4-6 months.
The re-application should be done on the entire head as the reparatory properties of the KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT and build-up of keratin can only improve, not harm, the hair.
Not at all! Unlike many other keratin treatments on the market, the Keraplasty has most, if not all of the excess product not absorbed by your hair rinsed-out during the treatment process. This leaves your hair feeling light, refreshed, repaired, and frizz-free.
Hair can be shampooed and conditioned the same day the Keraplasty Keratin Smoothing Treatment is performed. (Though there is no need to do so, because all the excess product was already rinsed from the hair during the treatment process.)
That depends on how long it takes you to leave the salon and get to the pool/gym! After a Keraplasty Treatment you can swim and/or workout the same day. There is no “down time”!
Not at all. You can resume your normal styling habits immediately after the treatment is finished.
Your hair will still have volume after your KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT. In fact, many clients experience even MORE volume due to the reparatory/thickening power of the treatment itself! On top of that, you will still be able to use a curling iron and/or round brush to create as much body and volume as you desire.
We highly recommend our KeraRX KeraSmooth Shampoo and KeraSmooth Re-Conditioner which utilize our newest color-safe protective system, specially formulated to extend the life of your color and keratin treatment by depositing hydrolyzed nano-keratin, Omega-3’s, antioxidants, strengthening vitamins and botanicals, as well as soy, whole wheat, oat, and quinoa proteins into the hair shaft in order to repair damage, smooth the cuticle, protect the hair from heat/UV rays, and to optimize the longevity of the KeraRX Smoothing Treatment.
Stylist FAQ
Time should be determined on an individual basis. KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT recommends an initial consultation to observe hair length, type, and texture in order to determine pricing and to estimate the amount of time needed to perform the service. As a general rule, expect a KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT to take approximately 2 to 3 hours and schedule accordingly.
The best time to have the treatment done is directly after permanent color, semThe “best time” to have the Keraplasty Keratin Smoothing Treatment done is directly after color, sealing it in, making it last longer, and appear more vibrant. That being said, on some overly porous clients, light blondes, or clients receiving color and keratin services the same day, the hair of some clients will release its grip on color molecules during the treatment process, “lifting/lightening” the hair up to one full level. Which is why we recommend the following adjustments if doing color and the Keraplasty on the same day:
If using permanent color: Perform the permanent color service BEFORE doing the Keraplasty Treatment. Once the color has processed, shampoo with the #3 KeraSmooth Shampoo, DO NOT use the #1 Detoxifying Shampoo (as clarifying hair may lift color) and DO NOT use conditioner. Towel-dry the hair and begin applying the #2 Keraplasty Keratin Smoothing Treatment.
If toning with a semi/demi color: Perform the complete Keraplasty Keratin Smoothing Treatment. After you finish blow-drying and flat-ironing the hair, you will need to shampoo the hair using the #KeraSmooth Shampoo or another sulfate-free shampoo to remove excess keratin from the cuticle of the hair. DO NOT condition the hair. Then tone according to your color manufacturer’s recommendation.
We recommend that the hair be cut after the treatment, as the hair will have a smoother texture and will lay differently.
Yes! In fact, the KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT is the perfect way to repair damage caused by other chemical treatments. It is recommended to wait two weeks between any chemical services and adjust iron temperature/number of passes based on hair type.
The simplest answer… “No!” If a client’s hair feels more damaged after a KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT, 99.9% of the time it was caused by an error in the temperature of the heat used or in how many passes the client’s hair needed/was capable of withstanding.
Traditional chemical straighteners/relaxers are best used on thick, coarse, curly hair, whereas the KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT is great for all hair types. While a chemical straightener/relaxer will definitely get your hair straighter than a KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT, but they will also leave hair damaged, dry, with little movement, and with a lot of breakage. This is because a relaxer works by going into the cortex of the hair and breaking the Disulfide Bonds it finds there. The results are permanent, forcing you to have to regular touch-ups or very visible lines of demarcation.
A KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT may not get your roots as straight as a relaxer, but it will smooth the line of demarcation and help to add health, shine and movement back into dry, damaged, previously straightened hair. And, if you decide later to let your hair go natural, you won’t have to fight regrowth from left from a KERAPLASTY KERATIN SMOOTHING TREATMENT, since it is semi-permanent and will slowly wear-off as you wash it, giving you an easy transition with no awkward “growing-out” period.
Flat Iron: If your flat iron suddenly won’t heat higher than 230 degrees, it probably means the setting has been switched from Fahrenheit to Celsius. The actual temperature is the same (230°C = 450°F) and this change will not affect the iron’s performance. However, if you wish to switch the temperature setting back to Fahrenheit it is quite easy to do so. Simply unplug the iron, then plug it back into an outlet. Press down on the “power” and the “+” buttons simultaneously for a few seconds. The screen will show “F” first, then “450”. Your iron has now been set to Fahrenheit. To switch the setting to Celsius, follow those steps but press down on the “power” and the “-“ buttons. Your screen will show “C” and then “230”, indicating that the setting has been changed to Celsius.
